Facing the prospect of a season in which in-person concerts will remain difficult or impossible, we join with our partner The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library to offer our patrons a curated series of virtual concerts featuring San Diego New Music’s innovative artists performing from home. With these events, we aim to offer much-needed performance opportunities to San Diego’s freelance artists, to foster young composers with new opportunities to have works premiered, and to keep new music alive for our community. Three members of NOISE present solo works for our next installment of the Digital Dose series, along with a special appearance by students from the Students of the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand, for the premiere performance of a new composition by violinist Mark Menzies. Colin McAllister presents two works that explore the immense sound world of the electric guitar through playing techniques such as bowing. Christopher Adler revisits a composition for solo harpsichord from his earliest days as a composer, and Mark Menzies presents a gripping solo by New Zealand composer Chirs Cree Brown.
