COLIN MCALLISTER
MUSICIAN—WRITER—EDUCATOR
Welcome
Thanks for stopping by! I'm a classical and jazz guitarist, and conductor of contemporary ensemble music. For over 25 years I've been a member of the San Diego-based new music ensemble NOISE, and a co-curator of the soundON Festival since 2007. I perform regularly as a soloist, a chamber musician and with various orchestras. I also write about apocalypticism, with an emphasis on the medieval period, and have published several books, including the Cambridge Companion to Apocalyptic Literature. I am the founding director of the annual Through a Glass Darkly Symposium, which alternates between Colorado Springs and Montreal, Quebec.
I serve as Director of Humanities and an Associate Professor of Music at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, where I direct the Sagitta Guitar Ensemble and organize the Solertia Humanities Speaker Series. I live in the beautiful mountain town of Manitou Springs, Colorado, where I serve on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. When I'm not making music, I enjoy trail running, pickleball, and chess.
