In their sweep up and down I-5, MKD’s second concert will be at the spectacular Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Sacramento, CA. MKD’s concert will include songs from Elizabethan England by John Dowland and guitar duos by Paulo Bellinati, Toru Takemitzu, Arnold Schoenberg, and Steve Reich. The program will conclude with Keller’s The End Time Are a’Changin’, an immersive experience of music, projections, and the audience’s mobile devices turned on! “Over the last several years, I have been working on multimedia works that include the audience’s use and sound of their mobile devices,” says Keller. “I am thrilled to finally bring my longtime collaborator and friend, Colin to SOU to play this music in such a great hall!” The music of which Keller mentions are part of his Modular Music Project. “They are concert hall pieces, which sometimes feel like participatory art installations, or as (not-so) silent films with live accompaniment,” Keller writes in a chapter of a book that his very own duo partner Dr. Colin McAllister edited: Music in the Apocalyptic Mode (Brill, 2023). “A few years back I asked Keller to compose a piece for me that blends my artistic work as a guitarist with my research on apocalyptic literature across time and cultures,” says Dr. McAllister, “and wow, did he deliver!”

On top of their fabulous guitar playing, the duo brings unique experiences to their audiences owing to their wide aesthetic purview and extra-guitar talents. David Sckolnick of The Gazette (Colorado Springs, CO) writes:
