I Sing the Body Eclectic celebrates the diversity of practices and new approaches to modern repertoire for classical and electric guitar. Since my earliest formative days as a musician, I have been drawn to composers and repertoire that have taken the path less-traveled. In this concert, I present works that have formed a crucial part of my perception and experience as a musician. The repertoire—some of which is newly commissioned— celebrates the creativity and contributions of traditionally underrepresented and marginalised groups. This special San Diego New Music presentation includes two world premieres, by Stuart Saunders Smith and Philip Blackburn.
